Two River Theater virtual reading of ‘Dogeaters’
Two River Theater in Red Bank, New Jersey is holding a virtual reading of Dogeaters by Jessica Hagedorn. It’s a part of their Community Reading Series which features many of their staff and and local talent. With the pandemic, those readings have been moved online which allowed them to expand their talent pool to actors all over the states. I was fortunate enough to be asked to participate in the reading which will be read for the first time for everyone to experience on February 24 (Act 1) and February 25 (Act 2). The idea is that there is no rehearsal and we’ll come in with what we’ve prepared, very similar to a table read on the first day of rehearsal. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone brings! Jessica Hagedorn will also be in virtual attendance, with a talkback immediately proceeding the reading of Act 2 on February 25. In previous posts I’ve mentioned that I’m returning to a role, but in this case I’m returning to the play with completely different roles! When Dogeaters had it’s Bay Area Premiere in San Francisco at the Magic Theatre in 2016, I played Trini Gamboa. Now 5 years later, I’ll be playing Leonor Ledesma, Lola Narcissa, and Imelda Marcos.
