Ghostlight Ensemble’s Make/Believe 2022 Festival
If you follow me on the socials, you know that my bio reads, “Just a Filipino in Chicago trying to act, sometimes write, and maybe direct.” Well, the ‘maybe direct’ is no longer a maybe as I am going to be directing my first theatre thing! I am so honored and excited to be a part of Ghostlight Ensemble’s Make/Believe 2022 festival, featuring several short plays for young audiences. I will be directing Sarah Lina Sparks’s Sunshine and the Sea of Lost Things. The play follows Sunshine, a young mixed-race Filipino girl, Sunshine, who is stranded on a ship in the Sea of Lost Things. Joining her on the ship are two heroes, Peter and Anagolay, who must navigate her home — wherever that home may be — before she is lost at sea forever. I’m so happy to be directing this play, as it aligns with my mission as an artist to highlight and uplift Filipino stories. The Make/Believe festival will run on July 16, 23, and 30.
